IFMA Seeks Volunteers to Help Shape the Future of its World-class Credential Programs Apr 10, 2024 IFMA’s Certificate Commission is accepting applications for the position of Certificate Program Commissioner. Appointed commissioners serve for three years with the possibility of re-election for a second three-year term. The Certificate Commission ensures that IFMA's certificate programs – the Facility Management Professional™ (FMP®) and Sustainability Facility Professional® (SFP®) - continue to be the premier recognition of achievement for FM professionals worldwide. The commission oversees the product development cycle with regard to IFMA’s Body of Knowledge, current and future certificate-based credential programs, and programs eligible for continuing education units (CEUs). Those interested in volunteering to enhance and sustain the integrity and quality of IFMA’s certificate programs are asked to complete the online application and submit a current resume and/or bio by Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Complete the application>> Those who currently hold an IFMA credential are encouraged to apply, as their first-hand experience with the process and outcomes of earning the FMP and/or SFP is of benefit to maintaining the credentials' value to the FM community. All applicants will be notified by July 31, 2024, regarding the status of appointments. Qualifications Commissioners shall not be members of the Certification Commission or certification exam development subject-matter experts within two years following their service to the Certification Commission. Commissioners shall not be current members of other governing boards with competing interests. Commissioners may not concurrently serve on IFMA’s Global Board of Directors, with the exception of the chair’s position as the liaison to IFMA’s board. Certificate Commission members must hold and maintain active IFMA membership throughout their terms of service on the commission. Composition Commissioners shall be appointed from a variety of stakeholder groups. The organizational structure of the commission shall enable participation and input from stakeholders and interested parties without permitting any one interest to predominate or receive favor. Stakeholder groups include facility managers working in: Diverse geographical locations Urban/rural areas Large/small organizations Public /private organizations Commissioners should represent as diverse a group as possible, including representation by facility managers with: Military experience Varied educational backgrounds, (i.e., engineering, architecture, business) Varied facility types, (i.e., hospitals, stadiums, banks, commercial, retail, academic) Experience in varied geographic areas/regions Individuals with a particular interest in a specific program, subject matter experts, instructors, representatives from IFMA’s emerging leaders’ program Commissioners shall not be current Certification Commission members, neither shall they be former members of the Certification Commission who have had access to examination material (i.e., participated in item writing for the actual exam), until such time as the current exam is retired.
