IFMA Introduces New Competency Model Advisory Committee; Seeks Volunteers

IFMA Seeks Passionate Individuals Ready to Make a Lasting Impact

IFMA’s new Competency Model Advisory Committee is an initiative with the power to shape and elevate careers in facility management. The committee will be entrusted with updating and maintaining a dynamic, career-based competency model for FM professionals. IFMA is accepting applications from its members to serve on the new committee, which will oversee the updates and maintenance of the competency model.

IFMA seeks dedicated individuals who are ready to invest a minimum of three (3) years in driving the committee's mission forward. Joining the committee is not just an opportunity; it's a commitment to excellence. Committee members will be at the forefront of the FM profession’s transformative journey, contributing insights and expertise to pave the way for a brighter future in the field.

Those who are interested and meet the qualifications listed below are asked to complete the application and share a current résumé and/or bio by Feb. 23, 2024. Applications will undergo a thorough review by a specialized Steering Committee, aligned with the committee's charter. All applicants will receive notifications regarding appointment status by March 31, 2024.

Qualifications

  • Committee members must be IFMA members in good standing with five (5) or more years of experience in facility management.
  • Committee members shall not be current members of other committees, advisory groups or governing boards with competing interests.
  • Committee members shall be appointed from a variety of stakeholder groups. The composition of the committee shall enable participation from stakeholders and interested parties without permitting any one interest to predominate or receive favor. Stakeholder groups include facility professionals working in:
    • International locations
    • Large/small organizations
    • Public/private organizations
    • Urban/rural areas

Committee members should represent as diverse a group as possible, including representation by facility professionals with:

  • Military experience
  • Varied educational backgrounds, e.g., engineering, architecture, business
  • Varied facility types, e.g., health care, academic, finance
  • Experience in varied geographic areas/regions
