IFMA Conducts Pivotal Global Survey on the Practice of FM

Feb 14, 2023

What Does it Mean to be a Competent Facility Manager in Today’s Built Environment? IFMA Seeks to Find Out in its FM Practice Analysis Survey.

As the nature of work and the role of place continue to evolve, so does the practice of facility management. To better understand new, imminent and obsolete areas of responsibility, IFMA is conducting a global FM Practice Analysis Survey, which focuses on critical FM tasks and work activities, how those tasks and activities are performed, and the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s built environment.

To accurately capture the scope of work, responsibilities and definition of success for FMs at various stages of their careers, global involvement from a wide range of professionals is essential. IFMA invites participation from member and nonmember facility managers, as well as professionals in facilities-adjacent roles. The survey takes about 45 to 75 minutes to complete and will be open through March 2023.

Those who complete the survey will receive a free IFMA learning video of their choice from fm.training. They will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of six high-value professional development prizes, including free registration for IFMA’s World Workplace® Conference and Expo 2023, a Facility Management Professional™ (FMP®) or Sustainability Facility Professional® (SFP®) Credential Program.

“The practice of facility management has changed. IFMA wants to see where and how those changes have redefined what it means to be an FM in today’s built environment. Your responses will help us ensure that what you learn or source from IFMA is of the utmost benefit to you now, and throughout the life of your career.” – Laurie A. Gilmer, P.E., CFM, FMP, SFP, LEED AP, Chair, IFMA’s Global Board of Directors
