Discover how to build a successful FM career.
IFMA provides professional development opportunities that will enrich every stage of your facility management career.
Basic FM knowledge
IFMA’s Global Job Task Analysis helped identify the nine core competency areas that are critical to any practicing facility manager’s knowledge base. These competencies are the building blocks for all IFMA educational opportunities and credentials.
Demonstrate specialization
IFMA councils allow you to gain valuable information and contacts within your specific area of FM; and IFMA Facility Fusion Conference & Expo provides industry specific educational sessions and networking opportunities. The association also offers a specialty credential in sustainability.
Demonstrate leadership and build legacy
Participate in a variety of leadership opportunities to enhance your standing in the FM community and contribute to the development of your peers. Volunteer to be a chapter or council leader, use your expert knowledge to present a session at an IFMA event, become an educational instructor, mentor FM students and more.
